About

SHELNZ (Mahmoud Hesham) is an Egyptian independent composer and producer who has carved a distinctive niche in the global music scene through a unique fusion of 1960s Psychedelic Rock aesthetics and modern Electronic precision. Operating as a purely DIY (Do-It-Yourself) artist from his home studio in Alexandria, SHELNZ crafts sonic landscapes characterized by analog-style synthesizers and organic textures, creating cinematic, instrumental experiences that transcend regional boundaries.

Starting his journey in the electronic and house music scenes with his 2021 debut album, All Colors, SHELNZ quickly gained recognition for his technical production skills. This early wave of success culminated that same year when he co-founded a landmark record label in an unprecedented collaboration with RetroCat, marking one of the biggest musical deals for an Egyptian artist.

Without the backing of major labels, SHELNZ’s music has since found an organic, dedicated audience worldwide. His tracks resonate strongly in the United States—specifically within the underground scenes of Chicago and Los Angeles—as well as across Germany, establishing him as a prominent voice in the international independent circuit. His most significant evolution came in late 2025 with the release of Those Days. This 15-track cinematic odyssey dives deeply into the vintage spirit of the 1960s, reimagining classic rock influences through a contemporary, experimental lens.

A self-taught musician, SHELNZ has been composing since the age of fourteen despite not reading or writing musical notation. Although he graduated from the Faculty of Law in 2012, he chose not to pursue a legal career, pivoting instead to study software engineering and computer science.

SHELNZ continues to push the boundaries of independent bedroom production, proving that a cinematic, professional sound can be achieved from anywhere. Maintaining a strict focus on instrumental storytelling, his music acts as a sonic bridge between a nostalgic past and an experimental future.
